Airbnb - We absolutely loved our stay here! Super dog friendly, super friendly and super cosy! Kim and Simon (and Tarka) were the perfect hosts, so attentive and kind and had lots of recommendations of dog friendly places to go - we even bumped into them at one of the recommended beaches! Dog towels, bowls, poop bags and a cute under the stairs dog area were the sweetest dog friendly touches to the cottage! It’s absolutely beautiful and we loved the enclosed garden. The area is very peaceful and there was even a dog walking field a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. We are already planning our next visit! Airbnb :- Kim and Simon made us very very welcome. Location stunning, as was the cottage which was beautiful inside and out. Spotlessly clean, beautifully presented. EV charging was perfect. We would highly recommended a stay.

Myself and my family (and furry friend) stayed at UpAlong in August 2024 and we could not fault it! It’s all the small things that have been thought of, children’s plates and bowls, the fizz and food essentials left, the USB chargers on the plugs, fenced garden and the EV charger was a massive bonus! Kim and Simon were brilliant hosts, welcoming and friendly with a great knowledge of the local area. It’s located in such a beautiful area and the cottage is renovated to a very high spec, truly beautiful and we will be back! Highly recommend *****

We stayed at Upalong Cottage for 3 nights. The cottage itself was easy to find and easily accessible. The furnishings and fittings in the cottage were 5 star and helped make our stay really comfortable. Kim and Simon couldn’t do enough for us and were amazing hosts, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. We will be back!

Beautifully renovated cottage in a great location! My mum and I stayed for 3 nights and loved the cottage. We were met with a very warm welcome and the cottage has everything you need and more. It’s very spacious but still has that cosy feel and is very dog friendly. Also, a fab location to use as a base to explore north Devon. The only downside is that we didn’t stay longer! We would really recommend staying here, thank you Kim and Simon.

UpAlong Cottage was the perfect place for our family of 4. it was very comfortable and immaculately clean. Both Kim and Simon were friendly and approachable. It is in a great location allowing us to make day trips in all directions of Devon. The EV charger was a huge bonus for us too! Kim & Simon we’re so welcoming and friendly. Great communication prior and throughout our visit, and really accommodating. We took our Labrador with us and Kim was kind enough to give us dog treats and a towel. The cottage is gorgeous and well appointed - a spotless fresh/ modern interior within a picturesque thatched cottage, all set in beautiful farmland. We couldn’t find fault with anything at all, and would love to visit again and explore more of the area. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. S, J & A x

We have just completed a wonderful week at Cobb Cottage, which has been both beautifully restored and extremely well furnished and equipped, and complete with a pleasant back garden. Simon and Kim (and Tarka the Labrador) were perfect hosts and were extremely welcoming. We would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation to anyone seeking a quality holiday retreat immersed in beautiful countryside yet reasonably close to many of Devon and Cornwall's resorts and attractions.

What a great property, so very clean and tidy and despite an old exterior appearance really modern inside. My only challenge my height, it's a building from times when people were shorter so mind your head! It's so obvious it has been thought through so well, and an environmentally sound proposition all round, from the heat pumps, solar farm and the planted areas. Simon and Kim are great hosts and lovely to hear from Simon how he's retired from the rat race and built this lovely haven in mid Devon. A great location because it has easy access to both North and South Devon and as we discovered really easy to get across to Bude in Cornwall on the coast.

For us as EV drivers Simon also had installed a 22kw 3phase type 2 Zappi charger which was a godsend, meaning no issues with getting to and from anywhere. Payment to Simon via his invoicing system at the cap rate (@ the time of writing this it was 34p per kWh). Even better news is that a second zappi has been installed and will be on line shortly.

We stayed at cobb cottage Monday 17th Thursday 20th April 2023 and WOW what an absolutely stunning holiday we had, as soon as we arrived we was greeted by Simon & Kim & of course tarka!
We immediately felt at home in the cottage, there was everything we could possibly need for our stay, including a bottle of wine, milk, bread & butter and a few lovely bits. These little extras make such a difference.
The beds were so comfy and the shower was a dream!
We can’t fault a single thing, it was like home from home!

We really can’t wait to go back and will be booking on payday!!
Thank you so much guys, I really can’t give enough praise for this beautiful place.
See you again very soon.
P.s Nellie loved the garden and the bbq was a fab extra that we really appreciated.

We stayed in Cobb Cottage over the Easter weekend and it was just the perfect getaway, we had an amazing time there! Simon and Kim (plus lovely Labrador Tarka) were the perfect hosts and made us all feel at home right from the start. Our Labrador Molly was so happy and made friends with Tarka, which was so sweet! The cottage is beautifully decorated to high standard , it had everything we were looking for and more, so comfortable, clean and cosy. There was so much land and space to take Molly on walks and the views were breathtaking. The location is perfect, close to the village and pubs and only a 30mins drive to the coast. We highly recommend it and would love to go back!

Where to start….
When we arrived we were met by Simon and Kim who are both lovely…. The perfect hosts.
After plugging our EV into the Zappi charger we entered Upalong. This perfectly appointed and well equipped cottage was great for 2 adults, 2 kids and a large dog. The boot room/utility is a useful space to put the dogs bed and comes with dogs bowls, paw/dog towels and even some treats as well as a washing machine, sink and downstairs WC. The kitchen has plenty of storage and full cooking facilities, it has all of the cutlery and utensils that you could need including a cafetière and moka pot. Throughout the property are useful USB sockets for charging all of your devices. The WiFi is fine for running Netflix etc from. The cottage furnishings are excellent, high quality and very comfortable. The wood burning stove was wonderful in the evenings, however the cottage was always at an ambient 21 degrees. The shower is the bathroom supplied plentiful hot water and was nice and powerful. The kids loved soaking in the bath! The garden space was excellent and secure with easy access to lovely dog walking fields. Also in the garden is a useful dog/boot shower to keep any mud outside. We would thoroughly recommend Upalong to anyone wanting a peaceful stay in Devon, the ability to charge an EV and short drives to many beautiful beaches. Cobb Cottage

We had a lovely time in Cobb Cottage, welcomed by Simon and Kim and their sweetest Labrador Tarka. Tarka took care of Bailey (our Border Terrier), so we had a wonderful time making use of the fenced garden. The EV charger is definitely a reason to come back as I drive a fully electric from London- I did not have to worry about running out of charge! Simon was gracious enough to share his passion for doing right by the environment, it was inspiring to find out a little about how he achieved carbon negative status with his land. The cottage itself is brand new and beautiful- what more can I say? We went for a fishing trip nearby and spent a few days exploring different beaches and sites in Devon- it was a real treat and perfect getaway.

We had an incredible stay at Cobb Cottage. It's the perfect getaway with idyllic accommodation and views, as well as wonderful hosts (Simon and Kim) who made us feel right at home and gave some great recommendations on activities to do in the area. Location is ideal: it's close to the local village which has some great pubs, and only half an hour to the coast and Dartmoor! Cosy, clean and peaceful, we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a holiday in the countryside.

We stayed in the delightful Cobb Cottage for a few nights in December and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for that perfect getaway.

Hosts Simon and Kim are wonderful and go the extra mile to ensure your stay is comfortable and welcoming.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and very well equipped - cosy, clean and warm. The surroundings are very peaceful and the views are outstanding.

Simon and Kim are excellent hosts and a mine of information to help plan before arrival. One of the usp's is the availbility of a 22kw charger. Handy for travelling around the area. The cottage is large with a kitchen designed for social gatherings wast very well equipped. Given our friends had booked the cottage next door. It did indeed fall into the area where we gathered after a day out. Finding the entrance is a bit of art and luckily good directions and the light of some fairy lights indicated where it was. Not the biggest sign but don't speed past! The cottage is very welcoming and they met us along with Tarka the labrador. Coincidence they had been living and working in Hong Kong. small world! There are 2 bedrooms 1 double and 2 singles. A standalone bath and shower. Utility room and further toilet. Outside whilst not the weather a large garden area. There is a wood burner in the large living room. We loved had the cottage as a base and we can't recommend it enough Thanks Simon and Kim

Really loved the contrast between a traditional cob built house with a glorious thatched roof and a modern interior. The heating via ground source heat pump most efficient. A quiet location with great views. Electric charging a bonus. Delightful owners who have lovingly restored this ancient building.

We had a fantastic stay in Devon. Although the weather wasn’t always perfect the cottage was a lovely and cosy place to relax in. Kim and Simon were amazing hosts who made sure that we had everything we needed. This part of Devon has loads of hidden gems and a wide range of things to do. Would 100% stay again.

Had a lovely stay in the UpAlong cottage. The interiors are Stylishly designed with charming features and a well equipped kitchen with everything you need.
